Scientific Name

Collinsia heterphylla Buist ex Grah.

Family

Plantaginaceae

General

CI

This delicate little annual is one of the treasures of the CI wild habitats.  It makes a rather brief appearance, usually in February and March, and may only be flowering for a few weeks out of the year.  Patches can be quite large, but around campus are generally not visible from maintained pathways.  One predictable site for viewing is the slope opposite (to the south) of the tot-lot of University Glen (along Channel Islands Drive).  This is also the best site for viewing Dodecatheon clevelandii (best seen in January - March).
